Bankruptcy Counseling
The Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act of 2005 mandates that consumers receive financial counseling with an approved agency prior to their bankruptcy being filed. The law also requires consumers to participate in a debtor education course before the bankruptcy can be discharged. Community Credit Counseling Services (CCC) is approved to issue certificates in compliance with the Bankruptcy Code. Approval does not endorse or assure the quality of an Agency's services. CCC also maintains accreditation with the Council on Accreditation (COA) and our credit counselors maintain certification provided through the Association for Financial Counseling and Planning Education (AFCPE).
Pre-Filing Credit Counseling
Your pre-filing credit counseling session with CCC will include an evaluation of your personal financial situation, a discussion of alternatives to bankruptcy, and a personal action plan. If your credit counselor identifies any alternatives to bankruptcy for you, they will discuss these options with you. Your counselor will also provide you with some direction that will lead to a healthy financial recovery and lifestyle if bankruptcy becomes your only option. The counseling session will take up to 90 minutes. The cost of the pre-filing counseling is $39 for individual or joint filers; we offer the counseling in the following ways:

Post-Filing Debtor Education
The purpose of the post-filing debtor education class is to provide information and tools for managing your money and rebuilding your credit after a bankruptcy filing. This class will take up to 120 minutes to complete. The cost of the post-filling debtor education class is $49 for individual or joint filers; we offer the class in the following ways:
